Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics Graduate
Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University
Lama holds a Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics from Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University. She currently holds CompTIA Security+, eJPT, and eCTHP certifications, with a strong interest in Threat detection, incident response and digital identity. As a key contributor to here graduation project “Authenta”, she was responsible for the backend development and testing of a decentralized identity verification solution designed around blockchain and Zero Trust Architecture. Her contributions included developing the core backend infrastructure, integrating the project’s components, and conducting testing to evaluate the functionality, security, and reliability of the proposed solution.

Authenta: From Zero Trust to Zero Doubt Decentralized Identity Verification on Hybrid Blockchain

Digital identity remains one of the biggest challenges in Zero Trust environments: organizations are expected to continuously verify users and devices, yet identity systems often remain centralized and dependent on trusted intermediaries. In this session, I will introduce Authenta, a decentralized identity verification architecture designed to strengthen identity trust within a Zero Trust environment. Authenta combines Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), Verifiable Credentials, digital wallets, and a hybrid blockchain model that separates permissioned identity operations from public blockchain anchoring.I will walk through the architecture, explain how trust is established and verified, and discuss how decentralized identity can reduce dependence on centralized identity authorities while maintaining practical security and governance requirements. The session will also explore the technical design decisions, challenges encountered during development, and lessons learned from building and testing the approach.Authenta is currently undergoing the patent process, and the session will focus on the underlying security concepts, architecture, and research rather than confidential implementation details.
