Dr. Reem Al Shammari

Dr. Reem Faraj Al-Shammari is a Global Thought Leader in Cybersecurity and Digital Transformation, widely recognized for her ability to amplify initiatives and drive impactful change across the energy and technology sectors. She is the Chairperson and Cofounder of Women in CyberSecurity Middle East (WiCSME), a community of over 3,000 members across 21+ countries, and serves as a Sounding Board member in Kuwait Petroleum Corporation’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. Dr. Reem has led key advancements shaping the nation’s cybersecurity posture while also enabling digital transformation through her various leadership roles where she was the first female CISO in Kuwait’s energy sector. She is a Certified Innovation Leader (CIL), a Fellow of the Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange (FIKE), and a Fellow of the UK-Gulf Women in Cybersecurity. On the global stage, she mentors through the UN’s ITU Women in Cyber Mentorship Program and is the first Civil Society Stakeholder representative from Women in Cybersecurity groups to deliver official statements at the United Nations Open-Ended Working Group (OEWG) on Security (2021–2025). Her contributions include co-authoring publications with MIT and the World Economic Forum (WEF), advancing international dialogues on cybersecurity, resilience, and energy. Dr. Reem’s trailblazing leadership has been honored with prestigious regional and international accolades, including Cybersecurity Woman of the Arab World 2024, Global Cybersecurity Woman of the Year 2023, one of the World’s Top 20 Cybersecurity Women 2024, CYSE CyberSecurity Leader of the Year Award 2025, and CYSEC Woman Innovator Award 2025 and multiple awards for innovation and leadership. Holding degrees in Engineering, an MBA, a PhD in Business, and completing Harvard Business School’s Executive Program, she blends technical expertise with strategic vision to inspire the next generation of leaders
