Ali Qureshi is a Senior Manager at PwC Middle East, specializing in cybersecurity strategy, critical infrastructure resilience, and post-quantum cryptography. With over eight years of experience advising national programs and enterprise clients, he focuses on translating emerging cyber risks into practical, large-scale security transformations. Ali has led the development of quantum-readiness frameworks, enterprise security architectures, and national cybersecurity models across the region. A published author and industry speaker, his work explores the real-world implications of quantum-safe adoption, bridging the gap between cryptographic innovation and operational deployment.

Blind Spots by Design: Defending Visibility During Post-Quantum Rollouts

People often think of post-quantum migration as just a standards task: list the algorithms, add new libraries, update certificates, and move forward. But in reality, operational issues are usually the first to cause problems. In this briefing, Ill share a controlled TLS/PKI migration pilot that shows what really happens when post-quantum and hybrid methods are used in production, especially with certificate lifecycle, handshake size, network paths, monitoring, and rollback.Ill explain the pilots architecture, how we compared the baseline to the migrated setup, and the main types of failures we found. These include handshake expansion that leads to fragmentation and retransmission, changes in CPU and memory use at endpoints and gateways, issues with trust stores and certificate paths, unexpected behavior at intermediaries, and problems with security monitoring visibility. Ill also show how practicing rollbacks can reveal hidden dependencies that standard cryptographic checks often miss. The session is built around evidence, like packet captures, benchmark results, configuration changes, and telemetry from the migration tests. Ill finish by sharing a set of quality checks, tested in the field, to help teams decide if a post-quantum change is truly ready. This isnt a basic introduction to PQC. Instead, its a practical, engineering-focused look at why quantum-safe deployments fail, how to spot problems early, and how to migrate without disrupting production.
